Con "GRAD" ulations

This last week has been full of family and fun!
My oldest nephew, Jacob, graduated from grade 8. Meaning in the fall he starts high school!

OMG where did the time go?! I remember him being "Auntie's baby" and having to pat him and walk him, and rock him all at the same time to get him to sleep, so my sister could get some rest. He was colicky and she was pregnant with her second boy... (sigh)

He's still the sweetest boy, always ready with a smile and a hug, but he's way to big now for me to hold and rock that's for sure. I'm so proud of the brilliant young man he's becoming! <3

To honor this great achievement I made him a "Grad" layout using my Scrap'n with Flair June kit,
as well as some embellishments from my personal stash.
( By the way he absolutely LOVED IT! )

The frame itself was bought at my local Dollarama store. It was painted using Tim Holtz - brushed pewter crackle paint then sanded a bit to give it a tarnished look.

Here's some close ups:

I used these papers from the kit,

I took my nephews photo and lightly sanded the edges to give it a distressed look.

I used this journaling card I found in my stash
and wrote in the date.
(This is the back of the journaling card.)

I printed out and inked the wording I wanted.

I embellished with some stickers from my stash,

and this neat border someone sent me as a swap goodie!

And here's a close up of the finished page.

I like the way it all came together.

I also had my son's Kindergarten grad, he will be heading into Grade One this fall!
Jase with his teacher Mrs. Turner,

and with his school principal, Mr. Fortosky.

Great job Jase, I'm so proud and amazed at how much you've grown this school year.

I  hope everyone is ready to enjoy their summer, and is excited about what new
and exciting things this next school year will bring.

P.S. I also will be sending out mailing info to all my swappers today, and am
Looking forward to seeing what sorts of BLING my partner will be sharing with me ;)

The road to self discovery & NEW SWAP!

Hello everyone! Life seems to be running away with me!
I haven't been swapping as much, actually I'm not too sure what I have been doing besides making an ever growing to do list... OH and I made this single scrapbooking layout too! ;)

This is my first ever page I made about myself.
I used this lovely raspberry colored paper, and embellishments from the Scrap'n with Flair June kit.

I used a different technique on the photo, I mirrored it then color faded with pink!
I added a paint chip behind it and matted it all over a piece of  red & pink paper/ heart print from the Sweet Things collection (left over from my Feb/ 2012 kit)
I also added the large heart rhinestone from my personal stash.

I embellished the left corner with a crocheted Prima doily from my personal stash, some I am Roses from the kit, a ticket embellished with rhinestone heart from my personal stash, and some of the rhinestone trim also included in the kit.

I made the paint chip into a pocket to hold a journaling tag, also included in this lovely kit.

I inked the edges, added some fibers and a pearl from my personal stash.
I also used a stamp from my personal collection, and did some free hand journaling.

Creativity often leads me down the road to self discovery.
I hope this will be a first of many pages to come.

I also would like to announce my next swap:
This month we will be doing a BLING swap.

I think I will do 2 different categories for this one to keep it fair to all people swapping.
1. $10 worth of new packaged bling.
2. $20 worth of newly packaged bling.

Basically you go and buy or send new in package items you already have with the $ amount totaling either $10 or $20. Depending on the # of people that join will depend on partnering.

If you wish to receive $20 worth of bling you may be mailing out to 2 different partners,
so PLEASE TRY TO BUY $10 worth of bling per time.
If you wish to send more that is up to you, but totally NOT necessary.
It would also be great to include a card or tag made by yourself .

I will be trying to match you with partners from your own country if possible,
as I do currently have US and Canadian swappers, to keep shipping costs down for this swap.

Here are some of the items you could send:

Glittery paper (6x6 size is probably better)
ribbons with glitter or rhinestones,

Stamps with bling,

Stickers in rhinestone shapes

or words,

rhinestones or pearls,

charms with rhinestones/ pearls,

or flowers with rhinestones/ glitter or pearls

or even stick pins

or even brads, the list goes on and on....

Basically you can send anything that sparkles, and adds glamour to a project!
If you are not sure about the items or swap details, just email me.

June Scrap'n with Flair KIT release!!

Hello everyone! As you know I'm proud to say I'm going another round on Scrap'n with Flairs design team!
This month Leanne has created a great vintage shabby chic feeling kit.
If you like cream and beige, as well as black and reds this is the kit for you!

Here you can see the video of the full kit, and what all has been included!

The Kit includes the following
18 – 12 x 12 double sided papers
8 – 8 x 8 double sided papers
24 inches of lace
12 inches of black flat back bling
1 pkg of Fab Scrap’s Stickers
1 Fab Scrap’s chipboard album
1 pkg of various bling and metal embellishments
1 pkg of variuos I Am Roses flowers
Various die cuts including rosettes.

All for $35.00! WOW!

Now to show you a little step-by-step of my 1st project!
I took this lovely paper, and

a left over tin to alter.

First
I used my milled lavender, and

walnut stain to add a different color dimension to the paper.

Next I trimmed my paper to size, just smaller then the cans surface to allow for the lid to close tightly.
Using my score tape I went around the top and bottom edges of the tin,

as well as adding some along the side to adhere my paper to.

Next I wrapped the paper around the tin, and added another strip to hold it in place.

This is how it looked with and without the lid.

Next on to making the flower rosettes.
I punched out the strip,

I folded them back and forth along the preferations lines.

Next I added tape to hold them two ends together.

Squeezing the sides together and toward the middle,
push it downwards.
Now hold on tight! LOL
These things are spring loaded!!

Next glue the circular piece underneath the rosette, and the scalloped piece to the top.

I added a rhinestone to the center from my personal stash to accent the red.

Next I cut a strip of this paper,

to size to go around the center of my tin.

I inked it with fired brick red.
Next I added another piece of score tape,
and adhered it in place

I took this lace included in the kit, and added it to the bottom of the striped stripe.

Next I added this brown velvet ribbon to the top edge.
This ribbon was included in the previous Christmas kit.

Next I printed out these lovely stamp images,

and fussy cut this flowered lady out using my Tim Holtz scissors!
I LOVE THEM!!

Lastly I assembled my tin!
I added another rosette I made, I added a small rose included in the kit which I inked with red brick.
I tucked under the left over snipping of lace and a loop of the velvet ribbon to the top.
I also used accented them with some rhinestones and pearls included in the kit.

I also added some pearls along the back paper seam, giving it a more refined look.

To the front I added my first rosette,
as well as my flower lady cut out!

I hope you enjoy my altered tin!
And that it inspires you to try out some of my techniques and alter your own tins!

Please check back on Friday for the announcement of our next swap, and to see my newest project!
